In my classroom, the world feels right, Filled with colors, laughter, and light. Tiny hands explore and play, Learning new things every day. Blocks that tumble, songs we sing, Fingers paint and stories spring. Soft plush friends and peek-a-boo, Every moment feels brand new. Inside and out, I crawl, I climb, I’m everywhere! Each day here is a big deal. With hugs and smiles all around, My little classroom, my happy place, Where fun and wonder fill the space. Check out Rosie's dance moves! We may have more dancers in the classroom soon! Today we welcomed Jack to Room 3!! Jack had his first day of school today! Mom and Dad, Emily and Ian, dropped him off. Jack was very into the curlers and room exploration. He was not so into Mom and Dad not being there, but he was very brave despite. He WAS into watching his very busy peers and joining Team Teething- you are among your people Jack! We are so happy you are here! Also, we celebrated two more birthdays recently... ![]() Mia is ONE! Ben and Liz came in to sing and help us continue the celebration of the ONE-derful Mia! And ROSA turned one too! Erin came in on Monday and continued the raspberry birthday party in addition to reading Rosa's favorite Polar Bear, Polar Bear, What do you hear? YAY for one run around the sun Rosa, and YAYYYY for YOU!! *** Exploration of holes and in-and-out continues! We see variations overt and incidental all over the classrooms but the two new attractions are the shleves and the hole wall. The shelves have been adapted from storage space to tunnels. Every so often a train of two or three children take to the tunnels and climb and reach and squeak through the quadrants. They watch and follow each other. Our small square of honeycomb board has expanded (thanks to kind donations from the greater community) and the hole wall is also seeing a lot of interest- in and out, toss and find, poke and pull. And thanks to your box donations, they are also starting to explore the options. Especially putting themselves in and out! Yesterday was an intimate and cozy day in our classroom, with just Rosie, Rowan, and Isabella. Though we certainly missed the vibrant energy of our other friends—Ruthie, Mia, and Rosa—the day unfolded in the most delightful way. We began our journey by stepping into the hallway, which felt like an adventure in itself! The walls were alive with colorful projects, creative displays, and interactive activities, each one sparking curiosity and excitement. Every step brought something new to discover as we made our way toward the art studio. As we made our way back into the classroom, Rosie, Rowan, and Isabella unleashed their inner artist. Paintbrushes in hand and splashes of vibrant colors were made as they brought their imaginations to life on the canvas. After painting there was a little time with the three outside and the creativity and fun didn’t stop there. Later, Isabella found herself in the theater with Wyatt and Everett (Room 2) , where she climbed, played and laughed. It was a day filled with exploration, creativity, and connection—a perfect reminder that even small groups can have big adventures! Today, the children had the exciting opportunity to visit the theater as a class! Starting in the spring semester, children in Rooms 2 and 3 will regularly explore both the theater and studio spaces. We’re thrilled to offer them this chance to step beyond their classroom community and engage in new, enriching environments. These outings are much more than a change of scenery—they allow the children to connect with other members of our school community, navigate the hallways, and gain a broader sense of the world’s vast possibilities. During their time in the theater today, the children delighted in the expansive open space and had so much fun climbing on the mats. We can’t wait to see where this new adventure takes us in the semester ahead!
Here are some of our other adventures today: Ruthie's mom, Becca, dropped Ruthie off on Tuesday morning for her first day of school! Ruthie settled right into Room 3 and even made it to the hallway for the Mardi Gras Day Parade presented by Rooms 11&12. So game, so brave! We are so glad you have joined us Ruthie! Today, Walker had his first day! His Mom, Ellie, dropped him off and he too, got right to work! Walker lived up to his name and made it to all corners of the classroom. He was quick to watch new friends and hustle over to all rounds of music. We are so happy that you have come to Room 3 Walker! *** The first week back after break is always a little whirl-windy, but even so, spirits seem high. After looking closely at documentation of December and tracking the different threads of interest, we have found that the dominant idea that moves through all the rest, is relationships. All of the children seem invested in building, understanding, navigating relationships- to the environment, to materials, to their new skills, but most of all to their peers! We adapted the environment, making more clear space for big play and a couple of smaller places for more intimate play, that will hopefully foster interactions. Looking forward to see what the Spring brings! *** And the nap mat transition has begun! Again, this is the long game/will take some time and everyone will have their own timing and way to get there, but day two- so far, so good :) |
