We had a wonderful Friday before the long weekend. We missed out friend Rosa who was already off enjoying her mini break. The children started the day exploring the room before their morning naps. "Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity.” – Kay Redfield Jamison After naps Rowan, Rosalie and Ben went on a walk with Susannah, Bella and Maya. Mia was still sleeping so she stay back at school with Charlotte. While on the walk the children explored a quiet path near school. We hope to take longer walks and explore the neighborhood more throughout the year. Look deep into nature, and then you will understand everything better. -Albert Einstein Once Mia woke she explored the balls and squiggles. Where they tested, reached, laughed, showed, and experimented with these two new materials. It was nice to have this quiet time in the room.

Get a glimpse of my day! First, my dad, Benjamin and my nanny, Kathryn dropped me off at school. I was a little unsure. I got a chance to play in room 2 with Rosa as Mayra watched us! The color crinkly paper seemed interesting as I pulled it out of the bottle. I learned that the fish name is Diggum. I was looking at him, and he was looking at me back! After a lot of playing, I was in for a well needed nap. Sleepy time! Lots of smiles during lunch. Rosie seemed to enjoy her lunch too! At the end of the day, my mommy, Elizabeth came and picked me up! Whew, what a day!
P.S- at least this is what we think she was thinking. Let's give a warm welcome to Mia! Meet Rosa! And her parents Erin and Corey. Rosa took on all of the things, she: checked out new materials- shiny, light, heavy, empty, full, rattly, crinkly, watched A LOT of new faces- small, big, happy, not happy, unsure, singing, trusted those new faces to hold her, rock her, feed her a bottle, change her diaper, sat at a new table, lied down in a new crib. Big Days Rosa! We are so glad you are here! Simultaneously Roselie, Ben, Rowan and Isabella helped show Rosa the ropes! Amazing what two weeks can do. Norms are forming, faces are becoming familiar- expected even. Our main goal in these first weeks is to create a space that is safe and secure, and feels safe and secure to these young brave humans. One gauge of this is to watch when and how the scale tips from caution to curiosity. Here are some tipping points... Little by little,
champions. Our friends, Benjamin, Isabella, Roselie, and Rowan
explored Room 2, Room 3, outside, and the hallways! In the hallways, Rowan and Benjamin showed off their independence skills by crawling and standing (with help of the bench) on their own! In Room 2 with Mayra, Roselie seemed to love the balls and outside time with Sus! Isabella loved the lights and outside time as well! All of her attention was on her teacher, Sus! In Room 3, Rowan discovered the window by the door and the bar of hoops and while outside, he loved the blue ball! Benjamin, with his curiosity and funny faces, he looked very concentrated with the balls and bowls in front of him! Well HELLO! Welcome to this space where we will do our best to give you all a sense of what our days and weeks are like as a group! Sometimes you will see ALL of us at work, sometimes just a few. Sometimes there will be a full collection of the day(s) photos, sometimes a curation around a piece of research that we are doing. You may not always see YOUR person, but know that traces of each member of the class are both visible and invisible in most all that we do here. Here we go! ** Let's start with some introductions... This is BENJAMIN (BEN) ! These are his parents, Summer and Chris... This is ISABELLA! Here she is with her Mom, Maureen... Here is ROWAN! And here are his parents, Corwin and Isabel. And this is ROSELIE (ROSIE). And below, with her Mom, Elana. These four have opened up Room 3 for the 2024-2025 school year. We look forward to the rest of the cohort rolling in over the next couple of months! *** The week was filled with getting our bearings; seeing if this place and these people were safe, and then starting to explore! *** Not entirely sure about Room 3 yet, ...but working on it. We are so excited to get to know your people, as they get to know the world. |
